Service Description:

Biodiversity Network Map: This is one of seven Metropolitan Spatial Development Framework (MSDF) procedural guidance maps for 2023, each of which will need to be consulted when evaluating the suitability of an application for development. The MSDF maps provide a high-level view of where land uses and investment are encouraged, prohibited or restricted through legislation. On this map, the Biodiversity Network and Marine Protected Areas are reflected, highlighting where there are natural terrestrial and aquatic constraints to ensure the survival of our unique natural heritage and the continued functioning of our ecosystems. Both the approved 2018 Cape Town MSDF document and the approved 2023 MSDF document are available at https://www.capetown.gov.za/work%20and%20business/planning-portal/regulations-and-legislations/cape-town-spatial-development-framework.
